RCMP Responds To Leaked Texts From Officers Promoting Violence At Freedom Convoy Protests

Yesterday, a shocking story broke that showed leaked texts in a Royal Canadian Mounted Police group chat.  The officers made light of police brutality at Freedom Convoy protests and seemed eager to beat up on peaceful demonstrators.  In what is alleged to be an RCMP group chat, police officers make jokes about protesters hearing their ‘jackboots on the ground’.

One officer seemed excited at the chance to beat up protesters, saying that he hopes protests are still going on next week so he can ‘get his turn’ in a text sent the weekend before police began using violence against the mostly peaceful demonstrators.

Another says that a video of an elderly woman being trampled by a mounted police unit was ‘awesome’ and that officers should repeat the manuever.

Now, the RCMP has released a statement saying that they are ‘looking in to’ the leaked texts and that the officers do not represent them.  FOX News Reports

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said it is looking into allegedly leaked screenshots showing Canadian authorities reportedly boasting about brute force on protesters demonstrating against Canada’s coronavirus mandates.

“Time for the protesters to hear our jackboots on the ground,” one member of RCMP Musical Ride allegedly wrote. Musical Ride is described as an RCMP group assisting “front-line police operations by building positive relationships, supporting recruiting efforts and promoting the RCMP’s image in communities in Canada.”

The messages are allegedly from a group chat for RCMP Musical Ride and first reported by Rebel News on Saturday. A representative for RCMP sent Fox News Digital a statement on Sunday stating that authorities are aware of the messages and looking into them.

“This material is not representative of those who have committed themselves to serving Canadians with integrity and professionalism,” reads the statement.

A group charged with overseeing Canadian police has also announced that it is investigating one of the incidents referenced in the leaked texts where an RCMP horse trampled protesters.

“A civilian oversight agency in Ontario announced on Sunday that it is investigating reports of a 49-year-old woman left seriously injured after a Toronto police officer on a horse allegedly trampled her in Ottawa.”
