Bruce Springsteen slams Trump saying president 'doesn't have a grasp' on what it means to 'be an American'

Bruce Springsteen says this is a 'frightening time' for the country because of President Trump
In an interview with CBS News, the singer reacted to Trump invoking 'The Boss' at a recent Minnesota rally, when he said he didn't need 'little Bruce Springsteen,' and other A-list celebrities to beat Hillary Clinton
The interviewer, Gayle King asked, 'So he's going back to 2016. And this is now 2019. You surprised that he's trash-talking you after all this time?'
Springsteen laughed.
'Not really. Anything's possible,' he told CBS News.

But it was when the legendary performer was asked about the country's direction that he took a more serious tone.
'It's just frightening, you know? We're living in a frightening time,' Springsteen replied. 'The stewardship of the nation is — has been thrown away to somebody who doesn't have a clue as to what that means ... And unfortunately, we have somebody who I feel doesn't have a grasp of the deep meaning of what it means to be an American.'
In the past, Springsteen, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, said Trump was 'deeply damaged at his core.'
Springsteen, a Democrat, performed along with Jon Bovi at a election eve rally for Clinton in 2016 at Philadelphia's Independence Hall.
'They got Bruce Springsteen. He'd do about two songs, then leave, and what happens? Everyone leaves with him,' Trump said at his October 10 rally. 'And (Clinton's) still speaking in front of the same lousy crowd. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen.'
